FLY ASH

RBT Services, Inc was approached with a challenge to design and build a system to handle type "C" and type "F" flyash from railcar to truck at a rate of 60 TPH. The customers current type of conveyor had several problems.

Problem: Premature wear of conveyor chain that is costly to replace.
Solution: RBT Services, Inc designed a conveyor with a hardened steel chain, hardened steel sprockets and UHMW wear strips on the conveying flights, which are inexpensive to replace and provide excellent wear resistance.

Problem: Tracking tonnages.
Solution: RBT Services incorporated a scale system using a modified impact scale that is used on stationary silos. This system has an accuracy of +/- 3%.

Problem: The need to open railcar gates mechanically.
Solution: RBT Services, Inc designed a pneumatic gate opener onto the tail section of our conveyor that is capable of 2000 ft./lbs. of torque.

Problem: Excessive dust while loading to truck.
Solution: RBT Services, Inc installed a 1200 CFM dust collector with automatic air purge filter cartridges, and engineered truck dome seal, which has virtually eliminated all dust emission.

Problem: The need to operate air lancing, and air vibrating equipment.
Solution: RBT Services incorporated a 37 CFM 125 PSI piston air compressor for the air lancing of railcars and the operation of non-impact "quiet and light" vibrators. This feature made the unit self-contained and with no need for a secondary portable air compressor.

RBT Services Inc, responded to these challenges with a completely self-contained portable conveyor with abrasion resistant steel on all wear surfaces and successfully achieved all of the customer's goals.
